Decoration Theme: Ganesh Vivah
Decoration Description: Immersion of Ganesha has been over. And we had very grand celebration of Ganesh Mahotsav. During these 10 days Ganesh Mahotsav, we celebrated one special and innovative event called "Ganesh Vivah" which was first time ever held in our country. I would like to share my experience of this event with some memorable pictures.
Marriage ceremony was held in pure Indian classical style marriage. In the beginning, we decorated Mandap for Ganpati and then the ceremony of Jaan Agaman was completed with Indian folk songs sung by ladies. All the male members were from the side of groom and all the female members were from the side of two of brides. The mother of Ridhi-Sidhi welcomed Ganesha. Rituals of Jaimaala held after that. One of the most important rituals on the wedding day was Kanyadaan, in which the bride's father washed groom's feet and gave him the hand of his daughter; this is followed by Hasta Milap, wherein the groom's shawl is tied with bride's saree through. The tying of the holy knot and the joined hands of the couple, signify their union. Then Ganesha and Ridhi-Sidhi took 4 MangalFera and audience showered rose petals upon them. After the completion of these rituals, Kanyavidai has been held, and brides and groom followed the rituals of Vidai in finely decorated car.
Moreover as a post wedding ceremony, brides got beautiful welcomed in Ganesha's home, the brides were asked to knock down a vessel filled with rice, with their right foots which were kept at the entrance. But before this, sisters of Ganesha tried to stop the couple and asked for money as an auspice mark.
And then grand reception of couple was held at the end.
